JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jarvis Haywood scored on a layup with 1:07 left and Jacksonville held off Mercer's second-half rally in a 49-47 win on Saturday.

Jacksonville took a 36-25 lead on Glenn Powell's two free throws with 16:06 left in the second half. But the Dolphins saw their lead vanish after Mercer went on an 18-3 run, capped by Bud Thomas' 3-pointer to give the Bears a four-point advantage with 7:06 remaining.

Powell, who finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, made a jumper to give Jacksonville a 45-43 lead with 5:15 left to play. The Dolphins pushed their advantage to four points on a layup by Keith McDougald, who finished with 12 points.

Mercer tied the game at 47-all on Thomas' jumper with 1:36 remaining. But Haywood answered with his go-ahead layup to lift Jacksonville (9-10, 4-2 Atlantic Sun) to the victory.

Langston Hall scored 11 points for Mercer (10-8, 3-2).
