JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local man who helped people file their taxes correctly is going to prison for doing his taxes wrong.
Jaime Negron pleaded guilty to three counts of filing false tax returns. He faces up to 9-years in prison.
Negron, 56, worked for the State of Florida Department of Labor and as a sales tax auditor for the Florida Department of Revenue.
But he also had a side job as a tax preparer. The Department of Justice says he under-reported his income between 2005 and 2007.
Investigators say Negron owes federal taxes of approximately $126,308.
