Wasps and hornets are among the most painful pests. They are fiercely protective of their nests, and will sting anyone or anything that disturbs them. Depending on the species, wasp nests may be in the ground, on a tree or underneath an overhang on your home. One variety of wasp, the yellowjacket, has even been known to nest inside attics or walls. Only a trained pest control professional should try to treat such nests, because the insects may be driven into the living areas of the house, which is unsafe. Outside, there are two methods of dealing with wasps and hornets. If you know where the nest is, it can be treated directly. Otherwise, baits can be used to get the insects to carry the poison to the nest. In either case, a pest control service should be called upon to solve your wasp problem. They'll know how to kill the nest without producing an angry swarm and know where to place baits so that there's no danger to children or pets.
