JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police scoured the empty lot on the corner of Evergreen and 27th street Thursday morning, searching for any clues that could lead them to a possible suspect.

"There hasn't been much of anything. Not like this in quite some time here," says neighbor Julie. Neighbors who live in the Springfield area say they're not surprised to see police investigating a murder right in their back yard.

According to JSO, a body was found around 4 this morning in this empty lot on the corner or Evergreen and 27th streets. "We've conducted some canvassing. During our canvassing, we learned there were some gunshots last night. And this is what our witness found," says Sgt. T.K. Waters with JSO Homicide.

Police have now identified the victim as Andronicus L. Williams, 28, of the 2200 block of Sessions Lane. They say he was shot multiple times. "I'm not really surprised because of the culture of the kids these days and their violence," says Julie.

And although this neighbor was willing to speak with us, she didn't want her face to be shown on camera for that very reason. "My main concern is the safety of the neighborhood," she says.

Police are still investigating and they don't have any suspects at this time.
