JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are on the hunt for a vandal.
"We were notified via our alarm system about 2:30 on Monday morning that someone had broken into our administrative building," Jill Johnson said.
When security officers arrived, they found a busted-out front door and a rat trap inside. Two School Board vehicles were also burglarized and rummaged through.
Because of dew on the vehicles, officers couldn't come up with fingerprints.
"I don't think this individual may have had anything to do with the district. I think it was an isolated incident," Johnson continued.
Johnson, spokeswoman for Duval Schools, says this kind of incident is rare. In fact, she can't think of it ever happening before.
The good news is the district does have security measures for the building.
"We do have processes in place. We have security cameras. We're working with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to see who exactly this person may be."
The district estimates the vandal caused about $1,500 worth of damage. If you have any information that could help police, call Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
