JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sara Gaver has heard the word "can't" her entire life. But it has never stopped her.

"If you take it one step at a time, there is always a way to accomplish it," she said.

The UNF freshman uses an electric wheelchair to get around. And even has to use her head to open automated doors. Her arms can't rise up high enough to hit the button.

But it doesn't keep her from going to any of her six classes. "Going to college was a dream, and I finally figured out how to get there," said Gaver.

The honor student hopes to become a high school math teacher someday. And Kristine Webb, the director of the Disability Resource Center, is helping her make that happen.

"People with disabilities are people first. And including them into the fabric of UNF is just part of not only the right thing to do, but it's the most natural thing to do to," said Webb.

Gaver knows college wouldn't be possible without 24-hour nurse care, student note takers and assistants who help her use technology to take tests.

That's why she is working to start a foundation. "I've always wanted to give back because so many have given to me. Every day, people are taking care of me. So I feel like it's my turn to care for others," said Gaver.

She hopes she can help others like her know that "can't" is not an option.
