JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- An intense line of storms is moving rapidly eastward across Georgia and has the potential to produce strong winds and isolated tornadoes through early this evening. An overall weakening trend is expected but there still may be a few severe storms near Blackshear, Waycross, Nahunta, Folkston, Kingsland and Brunswick. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will move across metro Jacksonville and the rest of Northeast Florida this evening and overnight but should weaken a great deal. Gusty winds & brief heavy downpours will occur as the rain moves in, but total amounts should average a quarter of an inch or less. Rainfall across Southeast Georgia will average a quarter to a third of an inch. There will be brief but locally heavy showers this afternoon and evening out ahead of the main area of rain and storms. Overall....the highest severe storm threat is across inland Southeast Georgia but will lessen after 7pm. It appears the threat for severe storms across Northeast Florida is relatively low. Skies will clear late tonight followed by a couple of beautiful days Tuesday and Wednesday under plenty of sun with afternoon highs from 70-75 degrees.
