Jacksonville, Fla. - St Johns Seafood & Oyster Bar is located in Jacksonville on Beach at Frontal Home Road. Some locals tell us for the past 30 years... it is their go-to place for fried shrimp and grits. The state health inspector recently found 15 critical violations at the restaurant including temperature problems with the food, a dirty microwave and slime in the ice machine.

here.
When we arrived.. the manager called the owner Robert Rukab. He gave us permission to see inside his kitchen. He says even on the day the inspector came there were no major issues and that all violations have been fixed including the ice machine.
Mr. Rukab sent us this email about the recent health inspection:
Tera,
St. Johns Seafood & Steaks has been in business for 30 years and has a
stellar reputation and although we are not perfect we try to be. The
recent health report about our restaurant was over blown by the
inspector and this has been a trend many restaurants have complained
about. Some of the infractions that the inspector wrote down were
corrected on the spot and some seem to be hard to correct unless she was mistaken.
The no hot or cold water at a faucet was corrected on the spot and all
I did was take her to the sinks in question and turned the faucets on.
So some of the comments were questionable at best. She also cited us
for temperature violations and during and right after lunch it takes a
couple of minutes for items to get back to proper temperatures and all
our equipment work well and all temperatures were correct on her visit the next afternoon.
Thermostats were present and missed by the inspector. Thank you for
letting me respond to the report that I feel was suspect at best.
Thank You,
Robert Rukab, President
St. Johns Seafood & Steaks The health inspector did make a visit the very next day and found all violations in the kitchen were fixed.
