Jacksonville, FLA. - The Pier Cantina and Lounge is located on North First Street in Jacksonville Beach. We were greeted by a manager when we walked inside who told us the owner wasn't in. She went on to tell us that she was the shift manager and that she didn't have time to talk to us. She went on to say, "I have an interview upstairs waiting for me as well..." We asked, "Don't you think your customers are going to want to know if the violations have been fixed?" She told us we were not able to look inside the kitchen and to wait while she went upstairs to make a phone call.
Here's a look at some of the violations on the most recent health inspection report for The Pier Cantina and Lounge:
Small flying insects in the bar area downstairs and upstairs
Ants on the counters, walls and ice scoop
A toxic substance in the upstairs employee bathroom
Dish machine not sanitizing dishes
State records show The Pier Cantina and Lounge opened in May of 2011. In April of 2012 it changed names and the menu. The restaurant now serves a Mexican cuisine.
After waiting for 15 minutes a woman came downstairs to tell us they had "no comment" about the violations at this time.
