JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- You have only one day left to tell the city of Jacksonville what it can do to improve by the year 2025.
More than 11,000 people have already filled out the survey that asks you to visualize what you want Jacksonville to be like by that year.
From kids dreaming of an amusement park to parents wanting a top-notch education system for their kids, even those who want to see a more vibrant downtown.
People in the River City are making their voices heard.
The president and CEO of the Jacksonville Community Council, hopes the survey will give the council a better idea of the city's future.
"We know that many communities have tried creating a vision by asking only a few key players, we think this is the kind of the future for the city and we need to hear from everyone in the community," said Ben Warner, President and CEO of Jacksonville Community Council, Inc.
The survey is about eight questions long and it asks you about certain aspects of Jacksonville like education, the job market and transportation.
"We know that for Jacksonville if we can work together on a shared vision we have a much better chance of becoming successful," said Warner.
But this is only the first step. After the responses are in, a series of community events will take place to generate even more ideas of what Jacksonville should become a dozen years from now.
"We fully expect that by the year 2025 and many years ahead of that we will see real progress in becoming the kind of city we can be proud of and that our children and grandchildren will thank us for," said Warner.
The results of the survey will be revealed at a public meeting Jan. 19 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.
In May, Jax2025 will release a report on what Jacksonville should become by the year 2025.
The last day to take the
survey is Friday, Jan. 11.
