JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--  Tis' the season to give back, starting with Thanksgiving.

This afternoon, the City Rescue Mission teamed up with The Active Magazine, The Jacksonville Giants, The Jacksonville Sharks, and The Roller Girls for one memorable meal.

Anyone who needed it, came downtown for a plate.

"Seven hundred people were fed last year. They're going to do that number plus more this year. To see all these people in need this time of the year, nothing else matters. Right, nothing else matters," Chris Cantillo with The Active Magazine said.

Everyone -- from players, coaches and mascots -- got down and dirty. They strapped on their hair nets, put on their gloves and served up turkey, dressing, and all the fixings.
For players who don't call Jacksonville home, this is one great way to spend the holiday.

"It's a group activity. We're all a part of the community, so we need to do our part," Sharks Defensive Back Micheaux Robinson said.

City Rescue Mission believes in developing the whole person, in addition to meeting physical needs. Today, that mission, along with providing an atmosphere of thanksgiving accomplished.

"It makes you feel blessed to be a blessing to others," volunteer Sherry Warren said with a smile.
