JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- While much of the U.S. shivers, the First Coast continues to experience near record warmth. This weather pattern, which took hold late last week, will end on Thursday with a cold front.
Since Sunday, Jacksonville's official high temperature has reached 81 degrees EACH DAY. On Sunday, we missed the record by one degree. On Monday we tied a record that was set back in 1888. And on Tuesday, we came up just short of the record of 83 degrees (1989).
The First Alert Forecast for Wednesday is...once again...81 degrees. The record for January 16 is 84 degrees (1947).
It will remain mild tonight and early Thursday, but a front is on the way. Temperatures will tumble Thursday night into Friday morning. It'll be much cooler! Lingering clouds will keep us in the low 40s Metro and Beaches. Upper 30s are likely inland.
The weekend will be seasonably cool with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.
