JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Tickets in hand, bags packed, Jordan Davis' parents are set for Washington, D.C.

"It's surreal," said mother, Lucia McBath. "When Jordan's father and I say we are going to Washington, D.C. and we're going to be able to sit down with legislators it's just something you never imagine that we would be able to do definitely not so quickly, so we feel very honored."

Jordan's parents are on their way to speak with our nation's lawmakers in hopes that no other parent will feel their pain and to try and prevent another shooting like the one that took the life of their 17-year-old son, Jordan. Police say he was murdered over playing loud music.

"We would like Congress to know that the country is ripe for change for amending the gun laws," said McBath.

"We want everyone in the world to know that Jordan Davis was on this earth and that we are fighting for him and fighting for the rights of every other child that's out there," said Jordan's father, Ron Davis.

As they walked toward airport security, Jordan's parents say they felt their son's spirit with them and it will guide them on their mission to the Capitol.

"Baby, we are doing this for you," said McBath. "We're doing this for all the children that have suffered and everyone who needlessly has died in gun violence and we hope that we are making you proud."

"Jordan would say, 'Dad, I told you I could make a difference in the world,'" said Ron Davis.
