JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jordan Davis stared down the barrel of a gun before. It's something that had never been revealed until today.

Ron Davis said, two years before Jordan was gunned down at a gas station for playing his music too loud, the teen and several of his friends were held at gunpoint at school. Jordan would later tell his father he thought his life was over.

"I told him, 'Don't be afraid. Just believe in God and he will take care of you,'" said Davis.

Jordan's father and mother gathered today to announce Jordan Davis day on February 16. It's Jordan's birthday. He would've turned 18 that day. Now the family wants to celebrate his legacy with the community.

In an extended interview, he and Davis' mother speak about why they refuse to live in fear and hatred and how they want Davis to be remembered.

Jordan Davis Day will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Jacksonville Landing, two days after Valentine's Day.

Michael Dunn is charged with killing Jordan Davis on Black Friday.  Dunn's attorney said he fired in self-defense because the teenagers flashed a shotgun at him at the Gate gas station at Baymeadows and Southside Boulevard.
