JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Ammunition is running low in Jacksonville gun shops.

"They're just about stripped bare," said gun owner Larry Fowler. Fowler says he had to visit several shops to find the ammo he was looking for and now that he's found some, he's stocking up right along with everyone else.

Ammo is flying off the shelves as fear of firearm regulations and increased taxes is on the rise.

"I realized this is it, they're going to start coming after weapons. They are going to start prices going up," said Fowler.

Gun salesman Z. Farhat at Green Acres Sporting Goods says ammo sales have doubled in the last month, creating the shortage.

Distributors are struggling to reload shop shelves fast enough. They simply can't keep up with the demand. Farhat says they haven't had to turn any customers away just yet but he's worried that may be the next step.

"If things don't change, I would say in about three weeks ,all bets would be off," he said. "I think we will probably be sold out."
