CALLAHAN, Fla. -- All eyes were glued on Washington this afternoon.

Gun shop owners listened as the Commander-In-Chief laid out his gun plan and his new approach to gun violence.

Overall...the response was favorable.

"It's a big step. When he said background for everyone, that's the biggest step he ever made," James Paschal said.

For the most part, Kimbal Hutchinson and his colleagues watched in silence, but when the president brought up a ban on assault weapons, he wasn't too happy.

"I just don't think that the ban is going to help anything. All it's going to do is put manufacturers out of business. It's going to make people lose jobs and it's going to hurt law-abiding citizens," Hutchinson said.

Another sore spot was the limit on magazines. Hutchinson says that's not fair to hunters.

Things have to play out in the coming days, but for now, this group agrees: Today was a step toward the right direction.

"It's a good start. It's the best start he can come up with right now," Paschal said.

"There's no 100 percent correct answer," Hutchinson said.

Some gun owners are already responding. At First Coast Pawn and More in Callahan, sales have gone up 60 percent since the tragedy in Newtown.
