JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jeff Lageman and Mark Brunell: two Jags from the past, are excited about the team's future with Gus Bradley.

"I'm most excited about Gus Bradley because he brings an energy," said Lageman.

"I am absolutely thrilled about the hire," said Brunell.

Lageman says he likes the fact that Bradley is a players coach.  "Having played the game, the number one job of a head coach is to motivate a football team.  And I think people could tell from the press conference how high energy he is.  And I think the players will like playing for him."

Brunell, the former Jaguars quarterback who is now the head coach at Episcopal Day School, admired Bradley's intensity.  "Me being a head coach now, I learned a lot.  I liked his passion.  Some of the things he's about, the players just getting better."

While they're not playing for the Jaguars anymore, Lageman and Brunell say they're still fans.  They say this new leadership could be the shakeup the team needs.

"I think fans are ready to see something different," said Lageman.  "And I think the one thing that's very apparent is that the new direction with David Caldwell, and also Gus, is that you're going to see a positive direction and a positive energy."

"I think the timing is good," added Brunell.  "And like everybody else, I'm a Jaguars fan.  And I'd like to see us get in back in the playoffs."
