JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Action News has learned Jimmy Smith, the former Jaguars wide receiver, is serving the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
Smith received a six year sentence, two for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and four years for possession of cocaine.
He wasn't supposed to get out of jail until November 2018. But Action News has learned he is serving that sentence while under house arrest.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections said Smith
was eligible for house arrest by labeling him as a "marginal risk offender."
Smith will have to wear an ankle monitor.
He will be eligible for possible parole in June of next year.
