CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. -- A man wanted in connection with a murder in Titusville died in a crash in Georgia.
Christian Joseph Murphy, 21, was a passenger in a car chased by deputies with the Camden County Sheriff's Office on Sunday night.
Deputies were watching for the car after getting a tip. The car ended up crashing into the median on I-95 near mile marker 24.
The 15-year-old driver was not hurt. She is being held in jail.
Murphy was wanted for questioning in the murder of 41-year-old Michelle Renee Chappell in Titusville.
According to WFTV in Orlando, police found Chappell stabbed to death in her home.
Police tell WFTV Murphy had stolen a car from Chappell's home and crashed it in southeast Georgia while trying to escape police.
Investigators said the scene is so gruesome, that they initially could not tell whether the victim was a man or a woman.
Neighbors told WFTV the woman had a very bad relationship with her ex-husband.
"I was shocked. We have owned this house for 15 years and nothing like this has ever happened before in this neighborhood, so it's really disconcerting," said neighbor Megan Magwire. "They are keeping us in the dark right now, and I heard they are waiting on a warrant, so hopefully more information comes out later."
