JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The band from Edward Waters College is going to get some national attention doing what it does best.
The EWC Triple Threat Marching Band will be one of eight bands competing in the 2013 Honda Battle of the Bands.
The band will perform in front of 60,000 fans.
Honda will also give the college a $20,000 institutional grant for participating.
"Our students are well-deserving of this opportunity," said EWC band director Marques Graham. "As the smallest HBCU in the final eight, it shows that our program, which was only formed 11 years ago, can compete with anyone in the country."
EWC goes up against Albany State, Alcorn State, Bethune-Cookman, Jackson State, North Carolina A&T, Tennessee State, and Winston-Salem State.
