JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The city of Jacksonville is going ahead with plans to revitalize the LaVilla neighborhood.
The city believes the area is ready for economic growth and is pushing the area as a gateway to more tourism downtown. A 6,000-square-foot structure is vacant at the site.
On Friday, the city issued a request for proposals at the recommendation of the Downtown Investment Authority. Commercial development of the LaVilla site would add to a number of major developments in downtown like the EverBank Center relocation.
