JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On Monday, the city of Jacksonville paused to honor the military men and women who have fought for freedom.
"The United States of America is a place where I want to be," said Bill Clinton. No, not the former U.S. President.
"I'm the REAL Bill Clinton," he said with a smile.
He's a 99-year-old veteran -- Jacksonville's oldest. He served in World War II. This year, he got the ultimate honor.
"They told me I get to be in the front with a convertible!"
Clinton served as one of this year's marshals in the Veterans Day Parade.
"It exceeds my expectations."
His daughter Sandy Mangindin got to ride along with him. She says this hero will try to keep his cool. But she knows seeing all the flags, smiles and salutes, means more to him than words could ever describe.
"He's not going to show much expression but I know his insides and his high blood pressure will probably go right up through the top of his hat!" she said.
And as Clinton lead the parade through downtown, he wasn't thinking about himself, but all the others that served before and after him.
"There's many, many more veterans that have done a lot more than I have. I just think I'm just one of many."
